A voluntary service in another country than Germany is possible for young adults between 18-26 years that have their main residence in Germany. A German citizenship isn´t necessary.
Is there a possibility for a voluntary service IN GERMANY for applicants that live in a foreign country and have a foreign citizenship?

Generally a voluntary service in Germany is possible for volunteers that live abroad and have a foreign citizenship. But unfortunately we have no placements at present where that is possible.

Support & Seminars

Throughout the assignment volunteers will be supervised by a mentor at their placement abroad. This includes professional guidance concerning the areas of responsibility as well as personal issues. In addition there are pedagogues at GVS who already know the volunteers through the seminars and love to provide support.

12 months of service include 25 days of seminars:

  • preparation seminars (2 x 10 days)
  • possibly an interim seminar (1 x 5 days)
  • and a five-day-long Reentry seminar at the end

Seminars are an inherent part of the IJFD and are used as preparation for the assignment and respectively as a time of reflection of the service. Therefore the seminars are a compulsory period of the service.
